Photos and Report on Housing Construction in El Trapiche

Rainbow Network is working hard on our new housing project in El Trapiche, a small community that is part of our El Crucero Network. Houses 1, 2, and 3 are completed up to their roof line now. The foundations and wall houses 4 and 5 have been initiated. In addition to the construction efforts Rainbow Network’s staff have been working with this newest group of soon-to-be homeowners to establish the values of personal responsibility, communal support, and hard work that make these projects a success.

Rainbow Network’s Housing Program Coordinator, Sixto Lopez Flores reports that progress is going well on the houses despite the difficulties created by the rainy season and a very muddy entry into the community. The road into El Trapiche is particularly difficult this time of year even for the most seasoned Nicaragua drivers. But, work continues.

In addition to building the houses Rainbow Network is providing water for the communianity. In this case there is already a well nearby and so rather than digging a new one at great expense, water lines were installed to pipe clean water to the new housing community.
