From May 24th to 31st, Rainbow Network held community leader gatherings in each network with an intent to discuss program and event planning and the additional special purpose to celebrate Mother’s Day. 76% of current Rainbow community leaders are mothers with families, and they are pillars of support in their communities because of their work to complete each goal in every component of Rainbow’s programs.

The meeting and celebration were organized by the program supervisors, program managers, and the central office in Nicaragua with an agenda that included a ceremony dedicated to the mothers. This event included gifts for mothers that would help the local economy and a meeting of community program leaders to develop plans for the month of June.

The work teams for each project were responsible for logistics and preparation of each upcoming event. The meetings were very lively and well-attended, even though Nicaragua is in its rainy season and some roads are difficult to travel.

Many of the mothers received gifts of encouragement from Rainbow: sewing machines which can be used to make shirts and pants and mend clothing. At least 14 sewing machines were delivered within the seven networks.
