Rotary Clubs Provide a Well in San Pedro

Samuel Reyes, Administrative Manager of Rainbow Network, receives and records a donation to build wells from Marcia Lorena Miranda, on behalf of the Rotary Club

No distance is too far to help neighbors in need! Last weekend, Rainbow Network received a donation from two collaborating Rotary Clubs of Canada, The Rotary Club of Kincardine and The Rotary Club of Listowel, District 6330.

This generous gift will be used to build a well in San Pedro, Ciudad Dario. Construction on a 25-home housing project begins soon in San Pedro, and now the residents of this rural community can look forward to having not only a new home, but also accessible, clean drinking water.

A well prevents parasite infections caused by unsanitary water, and makes life safer for mothers and children who would otherwise have to make regular, dangerous treks to more distant water sources.

Here children are playing at the unveiling of a new well in 2008. This well is a few years old, but every new well constructed is a celebration and a blessing for many years to come!

When children are well-hydrated and healthy, they are better able to focus in school.  They can run, play, and grow without the worry of regular infections caused by unclean water.

Muchas Gracias one more time to the generous members of Rotary Club for making clean water a reality in San Pedro!
