Ciudad Sandino

Formed in 1995, Ciudad Sandino was the first network in The Rainbow Network. It is located just outside western Managua, the capital of Nicaragua. The area we serve is comprised of 13 small rural communities.

Cuajachillo #2, Filos de Caujachillo, Solanos, San Andres, Trinidad Central, Berlin, Raventon, El Tigre, Las Jaguas, Monte Verde, Las Yucas, Lajas-Latas, La Ceiba.

There are 20 Rainbow Network Feeding Centers operating within these communities serving an average of 1,235 children, nursing and pregnant mothers and other adults our doctors prescribed nutrition as the basic medical care needed.

We operate 36 grade schools with 932 children attending classes each day. There are 453 families participating in the micro-loan program offered by Rainbow Network to start and build a successful small home based business to supplement and increase their income. Our doctors see an average of 50 medical and 7 dental consultations each month. There are 112 high school students receiving the Rainbow Network scholarships to finish their education and receive a diploma, some being the first in not only their family but their community to do so. The housing program has seen 87 families receive a new cement block home which encompasses about 530 individuals
