Twelve percent of Nicaraguans will never reach the age of 40. Most of the available resources the government provides are concentrated in the capitol city of Managua. Most rural inhabitants do not have access to medical care, safe drinking water, proper sanitation, and sufficient food. There is an overwhelming need to provide an affordable health care program in Nicaragua. Rainbow Network doctors visit each village every week. Dental and optical services are also available. A doctor visit and any needed medications costs ten cordobas (about sixty-five cents). The fee is waived for those who cannot afford it. |
