The school year in Nicaragua is coming to an end, and there are many letters going back and forth between sponsors and students.
Sponsors are praying for their students, sharing encouraging words and letting them know they are proud of them. Students are also sharing their prayers and favorite Bible verses, along with gratitude for the unconditional support they’ve received. They’re grateful to have someone alongside them, cheering them on.
Each letter highlights the unique relationship our students and sponsors have and the gratitude that comes from these friendships.
Jim and Terri have sponsored students for several years, and they decided to share this impactful experience with their family by sponsoring a student in each of their children’s names. They shared,
“Our children are all grown adults and are doing a great job of making their way in this world and make us very proud. As we all struggle trying to decide what to get them for Christmas, we decided to give each family a student. And we continue it every year.
We always shared stories of our trips to Nicaragua and stories of our sponsored student over the years, but this helped to bring them along for the ride.
They now get student letters and share them with their own children. They have sent letters and family pictures back to their own students. Our oldest grandchild is taking Spanish in school and wants to learn how to send a letter to her student in Spanish soon.”
Jim and Terri have seen with their own eyes how our programs impact developing communities, and they want to ensure progress continues for many years to come.
