In rural Nicaragua, mothers play a vital role in the home and the community.
They care for their children, teach them valuable life skills and encourage them to pursue their goals. They start businesses, take on leadership roles and actively help their communities grow. Mothers are paving the way for transformation in their families and in the generations that follow.
Victoria is one of those mothers.
Ever since she was a little girl, she’s loved to sew. As she grew up, she began dreaming about starting a sewing business so she could help provide for her family.
Through Rainbow Network’s Economic Development program, she launched her own business! We provided training on budgeting, running day to day operations, and planning for the future, and she received an industrial sewing machine (pictured above).
Her business has grown over the years, and now her daughters are involved too. Victoria is proud of their desire to carry on the trade and contribute to their family’s income. More than a new skill, they’ve learned the value of hard work, and they’re growing into responsible, confident young women.
This Mother’s Day, we invite you to come alongside people like Victoria as they build a better life for their families – one they may have never thought possible.
Give to Rainbow Network today.
