A Community Transformed: Valle San Juan

A Community Transformed

Amazing things are happening in the rural communities we partner with.

When Rainbow Network first began working with these communities, many families were struggling just to afford their next meal. A better future felt completely out of reach.

But now, after years of partnership, these same communities are filled with thriving professionals, and people are looking with hope to the future!

Children have gone from colectivo participants to high school graduates. Moms and dads have launched their own businesses. Families have built their own homes. Local leaders are investing in the next generation.

People in these communities have discovered a new way of life—and they’re providing for themselves in ways they never thought possible.

One of these communities is Valle San Juan, home to Oscar and his family.

Oscar and his wife, Dominga, have seven children. For years, they lived in a small mud house and struggled to make ends meet. Oscar was the only one in their household who worked.

Things began to change when they started participating in Rainbow Network’s programs.

All seven of Oscar’s children had the opportunity to attend high school through a Rainbow Network scholarship. Five of them are now working professionals—nurses, a teacher, and an engineer. The youngest two are still in school, with big dreams for the future!

In 2009, Oscar’s family also participated in a Rainbow Network housing project. Their new home brought clean water, protection from the rain and heat, and space for a family garden.

Today, Oscar’s family is just one example of the transformation that has taken place in Valle San Juan.

Oscar shared,

“The impact of Rainbow Network in my life and the community is invaluable.
They changed the way of thinking of the residents.
Their hands were loaded with blessings: the housing project, clean water, scholarships, medical care, and more.
I will remember Rainbow Network as a fundamental pillar in the development of my family, my community, and my life.
May God continue to bless you so that you can help other communities.”

We’re incredibly proud of Valle San Juan—and the 100+ other communities that have built a new life for themselves.

Thanks to their hard work and leadership, they are no longer in need of our assistance. They’ve officially graduated, and we’re celebrating with them as they step out on their own!

As they move forward, they do so with confidence, independence, and trust in God for all that lies ahead.

You can be part of this movement.
Together, we can create lasting change for more families like Oscar’s.
