Benjamín Isaías Gaitán Flores

This is the story of how multiple members of a community came together to build something the community had been dreaming about: a church.

Rainbow Network began partnering with the community of Los Fierros in 2001, located just southwest of El Crucero.

Shortly after Rainbow Network arrived, the people of Los Fierros began benefiting from the medical clinics, nutrition centers, education programs, and economic development programs. They felt something integral to the community was missing, and together they combined their profits from their newly-established businesses to build a church.

After combining the money made from selling nacatamales (Nicaraguan tamales), tortillas, enchiladas, bread, and other goods, the community members were able to purchase the construction materials and began to work on what is now known as the Fundamental Church of Christ. The community commitee leader, Benjamín Isaías Gaitán Flores, serves as the pastor for the 60 adults and 30 children.

The community finally has a place of their own where they are able to meet and worship God together.

A sense of pride has been instilled in this community; they saved their earnings for months and worked together to build a church they had all thought could only exist in their dreams.
