Jessenia Ramos shared a small home with her three children, lacking basic sanitation and security. The house was comprised of metal sheets, cardboard, and mud floors.
In 2018, Jessenia applied to become a recipient of the housing program in her community. She was accepted, and received her house on February 27, 2019.
Jessenia saw even bigger potential within her new home; she decided that she would build a sustainable future for herself and her children by opening a small store, which would be operated from her home. Her store has been successful, and she enjoys supplying the community with everyday needs that they did not have access to before.
